Kellan's Kingdom

So what is Kellan's Kingdom?

It is an all-inclusive playground named for Kellan Tigges. Kellan is the 6-year old son of Pat and Alie Tigges of Carroll, IA. He has a diagnosis similar to cerebal palsy and is wheel chair bound. Pat and Alie, have long dreamed of an all-inclusive play area where Kellan can interact with his siblings and friends.

Kellan's Kingdom is an organization of individuals dedicated to raising the funds necessary to construct an all-inclusive playground at Graham Park in Carroll, Iowa. The all-inclusive playground is meant to cater to all individuals, regardless of their age or level of ability.

All-inclusive playgrounds create an atmosphere for meaningful play experience for people of all ages and abilities. Inclusive play is not solely about physically accessing an environment, but what happens once an individual gets there. A truly inclusive and embracing play experience addresses the developmental needs of the whole child by intentionally providing opportunities for physical, cognitive, communicative, social/emotional, and sensory development.
