Pavlock Claims 4th Straight Rimfire World Championship

Kolby 2018 Worlds

As always, the Rimfire Challenge World Championship didn't disappoint. It was a fun weekend on the range getting to visit with old friends and make new ones along the way. My personal highlight of the weekend was getting to meet so many of the young kids that are getting into shooting.

The championship was held October 5th thru October 7th at the Lucas Oil Range in Cross Timbers, Missouri. The match boasted 16 stages and 220 competitors. After two days of shooting, less than a quarter-second separated 1st and 2nd place. Think about that for a second … 16 stages, 5 runs per stage, and it came down to 0.24 seconds!

When the dust settled, it was Kolby Pavlock edging out Volquartsen teammate Cole Busch by the narrowest of margins, claiming his 4th straight title. Going into the weekend, Kolby knew that in order to successfully defend his title, he would need to hold off Cole. The scoring reflected the back and forth battle these two had throughout the match. Be sure to check it out here.

Cole Prone 2018 Worlds

It was an strong weekend for Team Volquartsen, with shooters claiming the top three overall spots. Kolby was high overall and limited champion, while Cole finished 2nd overall and secured the top open shooter of the weekend. Cole also claimed the third overall spot in the limited division. Cheyenne Dalton placed 2nd in the ladies limited division.

Cheyenne 2018Shooters were lightening quick on the range, but even better was watching the fun they were having. They were helping painting steel, offering a thank you to the stage volunteers, and were great sports regardless of how the stage went for them.

We were also fortunate enough to host a side match on Friday, prior to the championship match kicking off. This match was a charity event with 50% of the proceeds going to Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) and 50% to the winner. Cris Mercaldo was the winner with a time of 8.89 seconds. The match required shooters to hit 20 targets with only 22 rounds and a firearm change in the middle. Needless to say, 8.89 seconds was fast! In addition, Cris donated his portion of the winnings to HAVA.

None of this would have been possible without the tireless efforts of countless volunteers. Thank you to all involved.

Are you ready to upgrade to what the champions shoot? Now's the time to get your firearms ordered for the 2019 season!
