Round Table

campfire-round-table

I recently came across an Instagram post from a friend talking about an observation he made at an early morning breakfast - the "round table." You know the one - the one that exists in every hometown diner. It's where stories are told, wisdom is shared, and where more than likely where political correctness is thrown out the window.

As a young boy I remember Dad always met his friends for coffee. Same round table, same time almost every day. Every once in awhile I would get to tag along on a Saturday morning and always thought that made me one of the "grown-ups." I always envisioned having my "round table" of friends as an adult and discussing much of the same topics that were discussed daily by his group.

It seems like a guy can learn more in 10 minutes there than all day listening to the news.

How many of you can relate to a similar story?

In today's world some of that has been lost. It's way to easy to send a text, email or even a direct message to a friend versus taking the time to go meet up for coffee, lunch, or dinner.

This is what I love about the shooting industry. It's like that "round table." It brings people together from all walks of life and extends beyond the local diner to picnic tables, tents, cabins, and campfires. How many friends have you met through hunting, competition matches, or just at the local range?

I challenge you to spend a weekend at a competitive match and not come away with a new friend. Regardless whether you are a sponsored shooter or participating in your first match - there is a camaraderie that forms between people sharing a common interest.

I see families travel from different states eating dinner together after a long day of shooting. At that time it's no longer about who the fastest shooter was. It's so much more than that. In fact, many times, shooting may never come up!

Want to witness this for yourself? Look no further than this year's Rimfire Challenge World Championship being held at the Old Fort Gun Club in Fort Smith, AR October 11-13th. It will be a great weekend of shooting but an even better weekend of laughter, stories, and friendships.

I have to admit - with the replies I receive from you when I send out these emails I feel like we are sitting at an extended "round table." I am so fortunate to hear so many incredible stories from you. There's nothing better than hearing from individuals that have placed orders 20, 30, or even 40 years ago that are still customers of ours today. You truly are like extended family to us. For that, we're eternally grateful.

Committed to Building it Better,
