Introducing Kristy Lee CookAbout Today's Guest AuthorEarlier this year, we met Kristy Lee Cook-Orr and her husband, Lee. They are avid outdoor enthusiasts and host the show The Most Wanted List. We began discussing just how much fun it is to shoot 22. From there, we learned that their young son was excited to shoot, and they were looking for a rifle that would suit them on the ranch and their son on the range. We settled on the VM-22 rifle and a 4.5" Mamba-X pistol. It's been great seeing them spending some family time on the range. My name is Kristy Lee Cook, I’m a mother, Singer, Hunter, Horse trainer, Fisherman, and outdoor enthusiast. I grew up with singing country music being my main career most of my life, and it took off after finishing 7th on American Idol season 7. My background in hunting started right around the time I was on American Idol as I didn’t grow up hunting. I started learning about that world when I was roughly 22. I learned to hunt from an ex-boyfriend of mine who made a deal with me that he would teach me how to hunt if I taught him about horses. I wasn’t sure if I would even like hunting honestly, I remember all the times I hit an animal and would bawl my eyes out. No one thought I would ever be able to pull the trigger until I pulled the trigger. Lots of hard days, hiking, and exhaustion made me all the more anxious to hunt and fill my tag. I shot my first bear and deer my first year hunting and haven’t stopped since. After Idol, I landed a show called Goin’ Country with Kristy Lee Cook, which I hosted for 3 years, and then I did Outdoors 10 Best for a year. Shortly after I decided to get back into music again and headed to Nashville. I gave up the film industry for a while until I had an idea for a new show called The Most Wanted List. We are now filming season 10 of the show which airs on the Sportsman channel, Youtube, Hulu Live, Friendly App, Outdoor America, Hunt Channel, and MOTV. We have grown this show from the ground up and I am super proud of it. I’m passionate about the hunting and shooting industry as I grew to appreciate it and the history it carries. Hunting is a part of how we all got here, how we survive, and how we will always survive when times get tough. It's something you can pass on to your family, friends, and strangers that most always become friends. It's an amazing community that cares about the wildlife, and the outdoors. I’m so glad I found it and became a part of this world as it is an incredible journey every time you step foot in the mountains. Volquartsen has been another part of our journey and we love their brand, being a part of our family, teaching our kids and the next generation how to carry on what we have learned. It's important to keep our hunting and shooting world a part of our lifestyle. Kids who are raised in this environment respect and love the outdoors and everything that it means. Volquartsen provides the perfect rifles for our young kids to start learning the proper technique and safety of shooting. We couldn’t ask for a better setup for our kiddo and he loves shooting his 22 LR. We can’t wait for our little girl to join in on this journey and learn about our shooting sports! |
