Gratitude Doesn't Come From Our Circumstances

Volquartsen HQ November 2023

Gratitude doesn’t come from our circumstances; it comes from how we choose to see the world. - John Maxwell

As Thanksgiving and the holidays approach, I always take time to reflect. I look back on the good and the bad, and I am grateful for the lessons learned from both. I am thankful for the challenges I have overcome, as they have given me a better appreciation for the good times.

We may not always be in control, but we can control how we respond to life's events. It's easy to be grateful when life is good, but it's so much harder to maintain this mindset when adversity hits.

I wish I could tell my younger self there's always something to learn, always a takeaway, no matter how bad the struggle might be. It might take time, and it may require us to dig deep, but it is there.

I am so fortunate to get to do what I love and call it "work." As anyone who has run a business knows, the stress is unavoidable, and the highs and lows are part of it. However, I wouldn't change it for the world.

Words don't do justice to the appreciation I have for our team. They are the backbone of everything we do, and without them, there is no Volquartsen Firearms.

Most importantly, thank you for being a part of our journey. It is humbling to think about how long some of you have supported us. In some cases, you were Dad's first customers back in the 70s and 80s, and to think you are still a part of our family is incredible.

I often get asked what I like best about what we do, and without hesitation, it's the people - the relationships, the friendships, that make it all worth it!

I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving,
