Pistol Uppers: Understanding the Similarities & Differences

In a recent meeting, I was reminded of how often specific questions arise during conversations with our customers. As a result, we are planning to address many of these common questions in upcoming emails. If you have something you would like answered, please let us know.

There are times we can be our own worst enemies when it comes to our product write-ups. We get excited about products, and in an effort to provide you with as much information as possible, we sometimes overlook highlighting the simple details that interest you.

A perfect example is our Mamba-X and Scorpion-X uppers compared to the regular Mamba and Scorpion uppers. We have had customers buy one over the other without being aware of the differences.

The two uppers share similarities such as:

• Stainless steel match barrel with laser-hardened breech
• 1/2 x 28 muzzle threads on both threaded and compensated models
• Type III hard-anodized aluminum shroud
• Available in 3", 4.5", and 6" models

So how do they differ?

X Upper:

• Drilled & tapped for direct red dot mounting (multiple hole patterns and locations to accommodate most red dots)
• No option for iron sights
• Drilled & tapped on the bottom side of the upper for an optional accessory rail

Standard Upper:

• Integral Picatinny rail
• Optional iron sights
• Mamba upper features an integral accessory rail
• Scorpion uppers are drilled & tapped on the bottom side for an optional accessory Rail
