Installation of the Volquartsen Magazine Base Pads for the Ruger® MK IV™ and Volquartsen Black Mamba-TF. (This product is not compatible with 22/45™ - we do offer a different Base Pad for the 22/45™ frame.)
These are the perfect complement to our target grips (Volthane or Laminate) that extend below the base of the frame. These Base Pads will come pre-installed on our pistol configurations that feature our Volthane or Laminate Grips.
Available in both 2-pack and 5-pack. 5-packs are engraved #1-5 for easier identification of magazines.
Tools Needed
- 3/32" Allen wrench or punch
- A clean, non-slip surface, such as our Cleaning Mat
Installation
Step 1
Remove the magazine from the pistol and unload all cartridges from the magazine.
Step 2
Insert punch into the hole in the magazine base and depress magazine block retaining plunger approximately 1/4".
Step 3
The magazine spring and plunger are under considerable force. Be careful to contain them. Keep them pointed away from people in case the get free.
Slide the magazine base forward while being careful to retain the magazine spring.
Step 4
Ensure the magazine spring is pressed into the body and slide the new magazine base onto the magazine.
Note: it is sometimes necessary to tap the magazine base in with a rubber mallet to fully seat it it.
Once installed, the magazine follower button should move freely through the full range of travel.
