This kit consists of our target hammer (includes shims and bushings), hammer spring, target disconnector, target sear and target trigger Includes polished plunger and spring) with overtravel adjustment. Also included is a recoil buffer to reduce wear on the action and bolt. The HP Action Kit will give you one of the most crisp, clean trigger pulls available.

Tools Needed

This kit is designed only for the Ruger 10/22.
Parts included: hammer with spring, hammer bushings, sear with spring, disconnector, trigger with spring and plunger, and recoil buffer.
Read all instructions before installation. All part numbers used are taken from the Ruger 10/22 manual available free from Sturm Ruger.
Do not under any circumstances alter any parts in this kit. Doing so will void the warranty and can be extremely dangerous and even fatal.

Step 1

Be sure to have the gun in the uncocked position.

Step 2

Remove the barreled action from the stock by removing the take down action screw (B-65) and barrel band (B-68) if applicable.

Step 3

Remove the trigger group (B-2) from the barreled receiver by drifting out the two receiver cross pins (B-5) using an 1/8” punch.

Step 4

Remove the hammer strut (B-18) from the back of the factory hammer (B-17) by pulling up and forward..

Step 5

Drift out the hammer pin (B-19) and remove the hammer (B-17) with bushings (B-43) and bolt lock spring (B-42).

Step 6

Drift trigger pivot pin (B-21) out and remove trigger (B-20), sear (B-23), sear spring (B-24), disconnector (B--25), trigger plunger (B-39), and plunger spring (B-40).

Step 1

Place the trigger plunger spring on the trigger plunger and insert into hole in the trigger guard. This will be held in place by the trigger assembly.

Step 2

Place the already assembled trigger assembly into the trigger guard and line up with the trigger pivot pin hole. Insert trigger pivot pin. By doing this you will drift out the assembly pin that held the assembly together. This pin will not be needed for the rest of the installation.

If needed, you can insert the smaller shims between the trigger and housing. It is not required.

Step 3

Place the two factory bushings into the Volquartsen hammer. With the hammer notch facing down and away, place the bolt lock spring on the right side of the hammer. Make sure that the dogleg arm of the spring is down.

If needed, you can insert the larger shims between the hammer and it's bushing. It is not required.

Step 4

With the hammer still facing down, insert into trigger group and hold in place using the hammer pin. Be sure that the safety is in the “fire” position to allow the hammer to be lined up.

Step 5

Drift pin (B-35, the top one) 1/4” right to left and place the straight arm of the bolt lock spring under this pin. The dogleg of the bolt lock spring should be lying in the notch of the bolt lock (B-41.

Step 6

Replace the factory hammer spring by removing clip. Always wear safety glasses when working with this spring. Install the Volquartsen spring by depressing spring on strut and reinsert clip.

Step 7

Insert hammer strut into trigger group by placing the clip end up in the trigger group and the ball end into the back of the hammer. Round off the ball end of the strut. This surface needs to be round and smooth in order to achieve an optimum trigger pull.

Step 8

Insert the trigger group into the receiver and insert receiver pins to hold in place.

Step 9

Drift out bolt stop pin (B-46) and replace with the Volquartsen recoil buffer.

Step 10

The barreled action can now be placed back into the stock and tightened down using the take down action screw.

Step 11

Be sure to keep all lubricants clear of the hammer notch and the sear face.

Step 12

Be sure to check for proper functioning of the safety (B-52) before firing. If for any reason, the safety is not working properly, DO NOT USE THIS KIT IN YOUR FIREARM.
