Replacing the Firing Pin and Extractor on the Summit rifle bolt. The Summit Firing Pin and Extractor are designed for the Summit Straight Pull Toggle Bolt Action Rifle. These are the same parts that are used on new Summit rifles produced by Volquartsen Firearms.

Tools Needed

  • 3/32" Punch
  • Dead blow hammer

Firing Pin Removal

Remove the bolt from the rifle. See your owners manual if you need help wit this.

Use the punch to push out the Firing Pin Retaining Pin and then remove the Firing Pin. Use a finger to put pressure on the rear of the firing pin to relieve spring pressure. Make sure that the Firing Pin Spring came out with the Firing Pin

Firing Pin Installation

Place the new Firing Pin Spring over the short end of the Firing Pin.

Notice the groove on the long end of the firing pin. This groove needs to be facing down for reassembly.

Insert the Firing Pin into the bolt and then slide in the Firing Pin Retaining Pin.

Extractor Removal

Place the bolt upside down on the bench. Us the punch to drive the Extractor Pin far enough out to release the extractor.

Remove the Extractor, but leave the Extractor Spring in place.

Extractor Installation

Place the new Extractor into the Bolt.

Use the punch to press the end of the Extractor into the bolt far enough to push the Extractor Pin through the extractor by hand. After the pin is through the Extractor, use the hammer and punch to seat it all the way flush.
